Fees and Penalties 

Minimum invoice and square terminal payment amount is $5. Transactions totalling less may be subjected to a minimum charge fee.

Members are subject to the following fees (plus applicable taxes):

• 1. Storage in common spaces: see policy for current rates

  2. Excessive utility usage: case by case. Electricity is metered at $0.20 per kwh

  3. Tool rentals

     1. CNC Bit Rental (Use on non-metal materials only): $5/bit/day

     2. CNC bit damage/breakage: $30 or more (depending on the bit)

     3. Bandsaw Blade Rental: $5/blade/day

     4. Band saw blade damage/breakage: $60

     5. MIG & TIG Welding: $10/check-out hour

     6. SLA 3D printing is $2/hour with a $5 minimum billing
        Resign 3D printing: In addition to the hourly rate, it's $0.07/g for resin if using MakerLabs material

  4. Loading Bay Bookings (members only) - $30/day

Entry Fobs

1. Key fob deposit: $50 

2. Replacing broken fob (if broken fob is returned to MakerLabs): $10

3. FOBs must be returned within 1-2 months of cancellation to qualify for a deposit return.

Less than 12 hours notice of CNC or laser cutter late cancellation or no-show

1. Non-members: lose the deposit you have pre-paid when booking ($3.15 - $12.60 depending on booking type)

2. Members who cancel with less than 12 hours notice/do not show up: may be charged $3.15 for each half-hour increment cancelled/missed.

Handling Fees for Shipments

1. MakerLabs receiving and processing import duty/taxes for packages: greater of $15 or 10%

2. Handling large shipments: $30 per staff member required per 15 minute interval

   1. 1. includes opening our back driveway, offloading /loading to/from a truck onto a cart and placing the shipment in our loading bay

      2. shipment arrivals are permitted to be parked in the loading bay up until 9pm of the arrival day. Items staying overnight will be subjected to short term storage fees

3. Members sending out multiple parcels (more than 5 within a calendar month) requiring MakerLabs' staff to facilitate customer pick-ups will be subject to a $30 + tax fee.

Late Membership/Studio Penalty Fees

1. Membership and Studio late payment penalty is 25% after two weeks

2. We require at least 7 days written/emailed notice for cancelling memberships. Less than that is subjected to administrative fees.
   Written notice received 1-7 days before renewal: $20 +GST late fee
   Written notice received 1-3 days after renewal (invoiced/charged): $40 + GST late fee and we can reverse the membership charges.
   Written notice received 4+ days after renewal: no reversal. Your membership will stand for one final month and will be wrapped up before the next cycle.

3. Membership cancellations over the phone will not be processed, notices must be received by email.

4. Studio cancellations with less than 7 days notice before the renewal date will not be processed. Your studio billing will stand for one final month and will be wrapped up before the next billing cycle. 

Damage and Cleaning fees

1. General damage to MakerLabs property: $250 or more depending on what is damaged

2. Tool related:

• 4. 1. Failing to turn on the laser cutter support systems: $250

     2. Breaking a laser tube: $1250

     3. Cutting into the CNC Router Table Bed by greater than 2mm: $50

     4. $10 per individual piece of metal (nail head, screws, etc) that enters wood tools (10 nails = $100)

     5. On demand maintenance of the laser cutter and table saw outside normal scheduled maintenance: $20

     6. Damaging the the Resin Vat on the Resin 3D Printing: $40 replacement fee

     7.  Damage to Edge Sander Belt: $50 replacement fee

3. Triggering the Sawstop for any reason (random chance, computer error, metal, mirrored acrylic, conductive material, organic material, wet wood, treated wood, carbonized wood, act of god, etc) it is the responsibility of the individual who set off the Sawstop to pay our triggering fee so we may replace the blade and cartridge, or to bring in those parts at the individual's expense.

1. Triggering the table saw brake (sawstop): $250

2. Triggering the dado blade brake (sawstop): $400

4. Cleaning fee for egregious messes left in common areas (garbage, offcuts, sawdust): minimum $50 for one hour of cleaning and an additional $30 per hour after that.

5. Dumping: Minimum $15 for dumping. $120 for a full waste bin or a percentage that it fills

On-demand Kiln Firing Policy

Those that are using the ceramics studio, and would like their work fired on demand now have the option to do so. A $40 + tax fee will apply in order to run the kiln by request / when it's not full. Members wishing to do this must send an email to hello@makerlabs.com and give 48 hours notice in order to accommodate this request. This fee is applied per firing (ie. bisque & glaze are separate firings).
