Tool Booking Policy

Some tools, such as the laser cutter and CNC router, are booked on a regular basis for use by our members. Members receive 60 minutes of CNC time included with their membership each month, and a discounted rate after that. Drop-in rates are also available to non-members who have completed the correct orientation class.

  • Members and drop in users must arrive 10 minutes prior to reservation time and check-in with front desk. If a member does not show up for their reservation, a penalty fee will be charged through their account. Information on our fees are available here.


  • Latecomers forfeit their booking to the next available person.


  • Members are allowed to book a maximum of 3 hours per day per tool.


  • Members and drop-in users must report all CNC and laser time to a community manager at the front desk, or by completing the online form


  • All payment for drop-ins are due immediately after your booking. If you fail to report your minutes you may be denied laser services in the future.


  • Members receive limited free minutes included per month with membership (on the laser or CNC router), and a discount rate per minute thereafter. Member minutes do not roll over to the next month. Member minutes follow membership billing dates which are exactly one month. For example, member minutes aligning with membership purchased on May 15 will go until the end of day on June 14, and will renew for the following month on June 15.   • Any cancellations must be made within 12 hours prior to a booking, otherwise a penalty fee will be charged. This applies to members only. Drop-in late cancellations will not be refunded their drop-in fee. Latecomer members are not required to pay the penalty fee however they may lose their time due to forfeiture.


  • MakerLabs does not guarantee the status or maintenance of its tools. MakerLabs cannot be held liable for any damage or loss of personal property. The laser cutters undergo regular scheduled maintenance every two weeks. On demand maintenance of the laser is an additional service provided by trained staff for a fee.   • Drop-in booking fees are non-refundable but will be applied as a credit toward their cutting minutes for the session.
